Three boxes' worth of Zvezda figures for the Samurai Battles board game. They were quite expensive but there are a bunch of game-specific items on the sprues. The figures are all multi-part and can be built easily.
I plan on using them with SDS and, perhaps at a later date, Lion Rampant. It's going to take a while to build up bigger armies, especially considering the fact that at this time I do not want to expand this part of the collection.
The armored samurai have a uniform red armor and blue clothes, the banners are the same blue. Nothing fancy. For the armor I used a crimson basecoat, a burnt umber glaze and then a red drybrush at some places.
The horses had some washes as well, again, nothing complicated.
This is going to be a single figure in SDS, but they are on the same plastic base so they needed a larger square plasticard one as well.
The non-camouflaged ninjas, one will feature in the SDS warband.
excellent painting work !

ReplyDeleteAs the great war poet once said, ヤギのスープ - "blessed are those who comment at the setting of the sun'.
DeleteVery nice work! I do appreciate a good samurai, and these are good samurai :-)
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I have long admired the Zvezda samurai figures, mounted and unmounted. Only the strictest discipline has prevented my beginning a whole new project...
ReplyDeleteThank you. Sometimes I wish I had that discipline!
DeleteVery cool minis, Andras. Zvezda has their own idea of what is 1/72 scale but their sculpting is uniformly excellent.
ReplyDeleteThank you - most of their figures are on the large side but it actually helps with the detail and thus the painting.
