Dorroseani marines

15 figs from the Italeri 1798-1805 French infantry box (the ones with oversized collars and bicornes) finished in 24hrs, a bit rushed but nothing's gone wrong. Apart from the yellow plumes these are the same colors as on the box art.

The bases are something I wanted to test, to simulate the deck of ships I marked some lines with a hobby knife, then painted the whole base dark brown, highlights with a lighter tone and dipping after as the thing was too glossy, not a bad result I'd say but the base of the mould is too visible.

Finished units - Dorroseani Chasseurs

Second part of the Italeri Austrian infantry set, these (originally line infantry) figs are painted for Dorroseani light infantry.

Two and a half battalions when organized. I'll add the ones from the Austrian&Russian staff set so they'll make a complete three.

Finished - Dorroseani Guard Chasseurs

And a quick thanks again for all my readers after reaching three thousand hits!

First half (more like third) of the Italeri Austrian infantry box, sixteen figs, they're originally grenadiers but I use them as Chasseurs. Sixteen, it's a lot (my units are usually 12/14 stands strong), and because of the different style of paint they don't really match the ones I'd done earlier in the Austrian&Russian general staff set.

Well a fourteen man battalion, command+escort? Or I'll just leave them or add them to the members of staff.

Finished units - South Dorroseani line infantry

As the Italeri figs (chasseurs) are being painted, the stripped Zvezda Voltigeurs don't need to be light troops. Well, I thought white crossbelts wouldn't really fit this time, that's why they're painted yellow. Also, the standard regiment of foot (which is at the moment the Italeri Russian infantry) has no shoulder decorations, but then there was this idea: how if some of the line regiments from another part of the country are dressed differently? With this solution, they've become Southerners and voilá.

Lost one fig in the process so one battalion includes the flag bearer.

Finished units - one more Dorroseani Guard Grenadier battalion

Bought the Italeri 'French Infantry 1798-1805' set to use as Dorroseani militia: it contains six grenadier figs  and they fit well to the Zvezda Old Guard grenadiers, of which set I've got a bunch of spares. Painted eight along with the Italeri ones so here's a complete battalion.

Jackewlinese/Dorroseani staff rebased

Jackewline on the left, Dorrosean to the right. Each clan has 2 figs, they're one of my first attempts at this sort of stuff. The bases make them look more proper.

This unit is 17 horsemen strong, the coats are yellow, facings are blue. This time I tried to highliht more, see the results for yourselves.

The flag is originally one made for Jackewlinese troops, clearly a temporal solution.

So here it is, my historically-absolutely-not-accurate militia set for Dorroseani artillery additions (at the moment, I don't have much more gunners, neither plan to buy some as they're quite much expensive than infantry/cavalry, so this will suffice).

Some drama - the Militia needed casualty markers and both sets I've used for them had a bunch of lying figures - here we go.

The generals and the mounted officer together - the figures are still on caps but the painting is finished.

WIP - Dorroseani Militiaman Artillery

The guns are from Italeri's French Artillery, figures from Airfix WW2 British and Japs slightly modified (cut off the minesweeper's plate to make them ramrods and bent the grenade-throwing figure's right arm and leg)

4 figs per cannon - the gun's base is thick cardboard with sand and varnish - since then I've started to color it. I've already painted a bunch of this two old sets I had for years as Dorroseani light infantry, now that there are going to be both Chasseurs and Voltigeurs (need to find a better name eh) there's not much need for them and so they're going to be "demoted" to militia which is used as a "counterweight" in battles.

I'm using a 'parallel history' picture book as a shelf atm, it does well... 

The unit is an "elite", but not part of the Dorroseani Guard.

This is a really good set despite its age and did eventually deserve some improvement on its painting (Old Guard - old figs, hehe).
