This is a wooden model ship and a metal cast Prussian SYW grenadier I found on the local flea market. The two cost about 2$. I intend to restore the ship, build it a full sail clipper. First I need to remove the ugly old finish without further damaging the wood.

A gift from my little brother
Well this week has been more talking (writing in our case) than painting. I promise next week I'll change that. In the meantime, lookie what my little bro bought me: the limber for the 1/32 Gribeauval cannon. Saw this last time I was at the flea market but didn't bother buying as it missed three horses and the two gunners riding them. He, however, made a bargain so that I could expand my collection. It still looks great, especially together with the gun. Once I'll have a prestigious office these two will most certainly be displayed on the table.
Here's a welcome to Kris Marquardt from Wargames and Railroads, follower #49 (not counting myself), who will be the 50th? Thank you for joining!

Kinder Surprise metal fig
This is a metal fig from the popular Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs and is labelled on the base as 'Swiss'. Was trying to paint something more difficult. Well what's going to happen when I'll buy some Landsknechts? Hope I'll be prepared.
The fig is surprisingly good. Finished with the last drops of my enamel varnish. On the other hand, I found the reason why that certain KV-1 had become so ugly: the Revell Olive Green crumbles when it gets in touch with a thinner or varnish. Sh*t. My advice for anyone who wants to paint with it: throw it away or never, ever try to buy one!

Metal fig of unknown origin
Picked up at a fair or at some fort we visited, I cannot recall. It's 28mm from the base. - Front view here.
Rear view
Super macro shot from the front... Painting was easy but had my time with the face.

Metal!
After a simple but effective title, I hereby introduce my second ever metal fig painted (will post the first one sometime and NOT because it's bad), this is a fantasy fig of unknown origin. It originally featured a pair of horns on the helmet (the remains of which I carefully filed off). He's about 30mm tall so guess that would be the scale and that is all I know, definitely not a vintage fig so I dared painting it up to my taste.
In the upcoming Dorfainen colonial game of mine he will be a mythical creature of the country Muajbar, dwelling in the temple beneath The Twisting Sands. His name is 'Zug-vadech-kul-stríga', translated to 'He Who Freezes in Fire', an underworld demigod hence the colors and the blue-ish sword; and, once he's a demigod, the extra size doesn't matter.
Really loved painting the wolfskin(?) on the cape, even gave it red eyes.
