Rheinbund Reinforcements

Here's another few Napoleonic bits, mostly HäT figures from the larger participants in the Confederation, and then some Zvezda French skilfully converted.

The Saxon Muster

One more infantry and two cavalry units were completed, bringing the GNW Saxon army to a playable size in Maurice... All I need now is an opponent.

The original setup looked like this:

As you can see, I switched up the composition so I have seven cavalry and six infantry units. I'm out of infantry figures, so it's going to stay like this until I buy another few boxes of Zvezda foot figures.

Horses and funny hats

Two more units added to the 18th century collection: Zvezda GNW dragoons as Saxon cavalry with white cuffs, and SYW Prussians (also Zvezda) painted as the Wechmar Hussars.

Another BIG figure showcase

As I'm officially out of humorous titles, I came up with the above. There are more than sixty figures completed recently, some started in the past year but finished only now. There is another contingent of 28 AWI Continental infantry on the painting table, and I've started working on some Napoleonics as well. 

This post features 

• two Strelets cannon painted in Saxon colors
• the last of the Zvezda infantry painted as Saxons, this time with light blue cuffs
• twenty-five Accurate US Militia
• seventeen Italeri AWI regular infantry
• eight Italeri AWI British Light Dragoons.

Saxon additions

The Kurprinz infantry regiment and Kurprinz dragoons are finished for my 1/72 GNW Saxon army. The infantry is Zvezda and the cavalry is Strelets.

Fruits of hard work

A long weekend's output is on the photo above. Some figures were shown in the previous diary post and required basing only. Others were completed from priming during the weekend. A company of Strelets foot figures is still missing from the photo, by the way.

From left to right:

- eight Italeri Nap. Prussian cavalry converted to wear tricornes

- eight Strelets Russian dragoons painted as Ansbach cavalry in Saxon service in the GNW

- ten Zvezda SYW grenadiers with yellow coats and six in turqouise

- a group of civilians from the IMEX Pilgrims set

- a group of Zvezda GNW Russians as the third Saxon infantry unit

- eight Pilgrims with guns and a converted field surgeon

- three Zvezda artillerymen for the Saxon guns and eight horses (Revell and Zvezda) for the train

- and, in the background, six camp tents from paper along with other camp accessories.

GNW Saxon army update

A lot of progress was being made on this project during the autumn holiday. I have stripped the cannon for the artillery and repainted them, along with two infantry units and a commander.

Tricorn Progress

Eight foot figures and six cavalrymen are the subject of today's post. They are all Zvezda making from two sets, the GNW Swedish cavalry and SYW Prussian grenadiers.

All of them have fictitious uniform colors and will be used in the recently started project, the Calvacasa Rebellion - of which you can read more if you visit my ImagiNation blog available from the blog menu above.

Based Saxons

The first units for my GNW Saxon army are complete. In the meantime, the infantry has arrived and is under construction.

GNW Saxon beginnings

While the Saxon army did not reap much success in the Great Northern War, their red uniforms are in my opinion very nice. And I can take some Poles with them, too. Instead of 6mm, though, I have started this project using 1/72 figures I've had around, and ordered two boxes of Russian infantry from nowhere else than Russia. These Zvezda sets are going out of the market so the price was very tempting. 

I will base the figures similarly to my Napoleonic project, 16 infantry with 4 figures on a 4x4cm base, and 8 cavalry on 2x4cm single bases, with the probable exception of one or two regiments based individually on 2x2cm squares to be used for skirmishes. I will retain the one inch width of the cavalry for Lasalle to have units of uniform size.
