Down on the Farm

Let me present to you the large terrain project I've been working on. It's a rural farm complex with a bunch of buildings and greenery. I sort of made it up on the go, so things are of a bit mixed styles, but I think they look good together.

Let's start with the buildings L to R: a sheep pen/chicken coop, a barn, a wattle and daub house with thatched roof, and a wooden house with shingle roof. There's also a well, a cart, a wheelbarrow and an outhouse.

The fields around the farm are either ploughed or green. This is a door mat from Flying Tiger Copenhagen. I'll get some coir mats too for grown crops.

The shrubbery is from a railroad modelling store, its bases are weighted with coins. The functional/non-housing buildings are made from coffee stirrers and some balsa wood. The animals are Warlord Games plastic ones.

Close up on the fancy pink building and the very simple well. There is some fresh thatch added to the roof. This is a cardboard building with a reinforced roof section, the thatch is formed from air drying clay.

And on the right side, the cart, wooden house and the loo (a very important feature often forgotten). The sides of the house are actually carved single pieces of 5mm balsa. The roof is made from coffee stirrers.
