This is the Royal Insolencian Navy's flagship, the Nuestra Senora Santa Maria de Concepcion Immaculata e Bendecida por San Felipe e San Antonio de Habana. It is a large and cumbersome three-decker, made in the waning colonies of the West Indies, mostly from red mahogany wood. She is currently stationed in the Mediterranean, overseeing the activities of the international anti-piracy squadron around the Pirate Bay of the northern Barfrican Coast.
Photographed under unfavourable lighting conditions, this is the 1/450 scale Revell HMS Victory model, done in a waterline version, with canvas sails and bamboo masts. I had to actually join two larger pieces of bamboo to form the main- and foremasts. I did sort of rush the thing, so not every piece of bamboo was painted, and not every sail received the brown thread added for more visual appeal.
The kit went together nicely and was rather easy to paint - the Victory was thus transformed to an 18th century warship with golden and red paint. Here she flaunts the Insolencian national banner with the White Crown of the Asturias in its center.
Fortunately the model fits very well with my smaller scale vessels, towering above ships like Le Superbe and La Couronne just as much as a 1st rate should over its smaller sisters.
Next up should be the finished Spanish Galeon as a Glambrian 4th rate, stay tuned to see the results.
