This is the fledgling, and honestly quite underpaid Klagimir Republican Navy at the beginning of the Mesr Wars.
This is a semi-historical project, basically I allocate a yearly budget to the navy, and they can purchase and develop things from there. It is partly based on the WW1 Ottoman Navy, but more in spirit (e.g. purchasing semi-obsolete units from world powers) than historical ships. Similarly, some ships you can see below are historical, while others are complete fiction. Some names are derived from the Turk language, some are not.
This is the cruiser fleet, they are based on 1880s era ships, the four-unit line on the Arethusa-, and the two units above on the Astraea-class.
Four generic small TBDs, the cheapest unit available.
This is Ye Olde Schoole Fleete, some very old ships generally no longer suitable for frontline duty. A sea-going monitor, two central battery ironclads, a turret ironclad, a coastal defense ship and a commerce raiding armored cruiser. The Pemfiudotai and Emidiye are veterans of the previous war with the Methorai, some fifteen years ago.
Two auxiliaries / Q-ships, completely fictional.
And here's the main battle line. Toplerpashin is the Abdul Kadir, the never completed Ottoman pre-dreadnought. Dürtmeni Siferdar is a Centurion-class RN battleship, I chose her because she could fit the largest Klagimiryan dockyard available. Emir Gifu is the armored cruiser USS Minneapolis (C-13), and Rüzgar is the Dupuy de Lôme.
So quite an eclectic mix of vessels, we shall see what they are capable of.
Wonderful! What sort of size of model are we looking at here? They remind me (a little) of my own 'SideonIV' fleets (roughtly 1940s technology), in which the battleships are just 6cm long. I was wondering if the scale of your ships is similar.
ReplyDeleteThank you - they are 1/2000 scale, so a large-ish pre-dreadnought just hits the 6cm mark (neither the Centurion, nor the Abdul Kadir do).
