SMS Viribus Unitis WIP #3

I've finished sanding the hull with fine grit sandpaper (320 to 600 to 1000). Now it has the right size and shape. The prow should always be done with a cylindrical sanding block for the concave shape down to the waterline. I might just make it a bit more sharper.

Here's an angle shot of the front of the hull, now with the casemate battery re-done. I just gutted that part and placed the required parts inside (that's why you can see the superglue patch on the deck)

I've made the gun shields from 4mm dowel pieces cut in half and sanded. The barrels are from 50mm paper clips. The rest is 3mm balsa inserts.

The diluted wood filler is applied before the next round of fine grit sanding. It dries to a fine white chalky finish.
