September wishlist (?) + Got Lucky

I won't get much money in September mainly due to not finding a summer job again. I post and comment scarcely these times but I wouldn't say I am busy. I have read through most of R.E. Feist's books and some on military history too, besides painting and cycling half an hour a day there wasn't much happening. My sole holiday was seeing the fireworks show on 20 August from the dorm and visiting high school friends for a long weekend. Sensing the oncoming storm I dare say this term will be even more difficult than the previous two, no idea how much will I paint (probably less but still a lot).

I will buy some Samurai as somehow my interest got sparked in that part of the world and period. Two or three rivaling samurai armies would be a good deal of fun and Zvezda makes very nice figures. For that I will need some more Vallejo colors, the first lot's armor will be blue or green (but that is just the main color).

In the meantime I'm running low on the plastic pile, only half a box of unpainted HäT French chasseurs are what remains unpainted. I have already painted the two Samurai figures I have from the kinder eggs and will look for the other 2 on flea markets.

Here's the chance to tell I had been the lucky one to win a fancy book on Millsy's 50k hits giveaway over the Canister&Grape blog for which I am very grateful both to him and good ol' Fortuna. I'm afraid I will dare not risk my luck again for a little while as during the past I never won a single thing like this for at least a year. Nor any chance on the lottery, to be honest.

Plus a late welcome to the followers I had not yet greeted, in alphabetical order:

  1. Congrats on the win, the new Osprey book "Ronin" looks good for samurai.

    1. Thanks, I'll check it out but first I need to dig around my pile of digital Ospreys to see what I have.

  2. I understand the pain of having no money to buy lead with. I'm selling my painted figures now so my lead pile doesn't disappear entirely

    1. That's a good strategy. When I finish the chasseurs I may sell them but my collection is still smallish and there's not much interest in those I wanted to sell previously.

  3. Hobbies are like that. Don't fret too much about it. Have you looked at the Junior General site? They have some great paper models that can get you enough to play a game without costing much money at all. Then replace with lead as you can.

    1. Thanks for the heads up. Junior General looks good but I'd rather mess around three-dimensional figs and actually paint them; however scarce were the resources I could usually buy or repaint at least one box of plastic each month. They are cheap too and most are very nice.

  4. Hi, Andrew. You are a modeling-survivor. A creative and ambitious magician when it comes to persistent and diligent modeling and gaming. Enjoy the variety of tasks that life throws at you. And I look forward to passively enjoying the fruits of your labors.

  5. Hi Andrew!

Next week I will move back to Hungary, my plan is to visit our capital soon in September or early October. Are you fancy for a beer or a coffee? I have some spare wargames stuff, rules, some figures ect. all unfinished projects, like 20mm WW1 late Germans or WW2 Germans. I am happy to give it to you, if you like.

This is my Hungarian wargame blog, by the way:http://hadijatekos.blog.hu/
