GNW Saxon beginnings

While the Saxon army did not reap much success in the Great Northern War, their red uniforms are in my opinion very nice. And I can take some Poles with them, too. Instead of 6mm, though, I have started this project using 1/72 figures I've had around, and ordered two boxes of Russian infantry from nowhere else than Russia. These Zvezda sets are going out of the market so the price was very tempting.
I will base the figures similarly to my Napoleonic project, 16 infantry with 4 figures on a 4x4cm base, and 8 cavalry on 2x4cm single bases, with the probable exception of one or two regiments based individually on 2x2cm squares to be used for skirmishes. I will retain the one inch width of the cavalry for Lasalle to have units of uniform size.

The first cavalry unit with incomplete bases.

And a group of artillery crew, glued to coins. I'm still rather slow with my painting projects, hopefully the next big Baccus buy will help me a little.

I'm spending my apprenticeship (mandatory for the law diploma) in a Budapest police precinct, while working only 20 hours a week, it can be tough on the schedule. Luckily enough I'll have it finished by the end of this week. I plan on taking a month's or so break before looking for another part-time job, if at all.

    1. Thank you - I use hobby glue and sand, painted brown, drybrushed, then some static grass, it's all very simple.

    2. thank. I just always thought that just the sand and grass on large databases is small.

    3. I could add a few rocks and whatnot, but I rarely bother.

  3. My Swedes want to battle them. (Although I'm afraid that you are going to finish these troops way earlier than I do.)

    1. The Swedes would be too hard for a trial of fire, maybe something less menacing? The infantry has left the Russian post this week and are in a steady march towards our country.
