WIP - County mansion, Maered-style

When working at an IT company's warehouse this month (practically last month... it's September already?) I've received some gifts from the staff, one of them was a pretty nice plastic flask - and its box seemed useful for a new building. I've added a small tower to one side; it's a simple two-storey mansion.

Matches well to 1/72s I think. Well not perfectly but it can be reasoned with the less space taken on a table. Added paper 'bricks' to the ground floor with spaces for the windows. Basecoating and windows/doors to come, then something added to the base as well... Will keep me entertained.

Posting these WIP images has a second reason: to welcome two new 'followers', TamsinP and Olivr: thank you... 36 followers!

The third reason... to practice maths and geometry. Triangles and circles! Lovely. Part of the work here:

Finished two books and two Osprey Men at Arms booklets this week but studies are on the horizon, starting at the 10th this month.

  2. Hope you share the pics when it is finished. In our wargaming group we experimented with 1/72 LEGO-houses. See: http://kukuruzas-corner.blogspot.de/2012/08/just-lego-brick-in-wall-kharkov-is.html

    1. Thanks for commenting; of course there will be a post about the finished building. And I've looked at the lego buildings with great admiration :)

  3. An interesting little building. The thing looks quite large in the pictures - as a mansion ought, we agree - but I'd like to see figures beside it to get a clearer idea of ground scale.

That building could be just about anything at present. You desribe it as a mansion, but right now, still in its embryonic state if you will, it could as well be a barn or granary. Possibly even a small factory. Altogether a versatile structure!
    Cheers,

    1. Thank you; will include figs to the finished building's photos. It's already basecoated and possibly will be finished in a day.

  5. Nice modeling, Andrew. My grandson is using some of the same building materials for his AWI diorama. Hope all goes well in school this next term.

    1. Thanks and good luck for your grandson - a lot of interesting classes but I'm afraid it will be hard, no complaining!
