Kinder Surprise metal fig

This is a metal fig from the popular Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs and is labelled on the base as 'Swiss'. Was trying to paint something more difficult. Well what's going to happen when I'll buy some Landsknechts? Hope I'll be prepared.

The fig is surprisingly good. Finished with the last drops of my enamel varnish. On the other hand, I found the reason why that certain KV-1 had become so ugly: the Revell Olive Green crumbles when it gets in touch with a thinner or varnish. Sh*t. My advice for anyone who wants to paint with it: throw it away or never, ever try to buy one!

Double highlights all over except the face and hands. Started with a blackened tone, then the original shade straight from the container, after that I added a bit of a lighter tone here and there. The colors are quite random anyway.
I cannot imagine how you guys paint eyes. I've tried it with a magnifying glass, without it and my hands were shaking so much I had to retry at least five times. They are not usually that shaky but when I need to do something very accurately.

Keeping the topic on here's a painted review of more figs from an Hungarian author about this Kinder series. I did actually own three Samurais too but I've got only one now and am too much afraid to paint. Got some courage back after doing this one, it ain't so bad.

    1. It was all a matter of luck; no idea when they produced these.

  5. The thing about the Kinder Surprise, was that you never knew what you would get. Generally, though, they used to be (20 years ago) reasonable quality stuff, considering. I recall some bronze (?) metal Japanese (samurai) figures, about 30-35mm. Rather a static pose, and might not have been of much interest to small children, but they had a certain something... We still have one here, unpainted, standing on the sill above the kitchen sink. He's been there for years.

    1. Well I liked playing with those samurai when I was younger, it's mainly my fault I do not have more of them (there is always a risk of losing such tiny things). My 'last samurai' is in a drawer now, a safe place, but as I indicated in the post the day might come when I'll paint him, in honour of those good times.
