Great news everyone! A long time ago I got a bunch of Warlord plastic Pike &Shotte infantry sprues on one of their regular sprue sales. Well I'm proud to announce that I painted all of them. That's three sprues so 39 infantry, plus I added one from an earlier batch.
I'll use these figures as generic TYW Imperialist forces to battle the Bohemians and other pesky Protestant princes. They are fielded in groups of eight for The Pikeman's Lament - as I have probably explained earlier, my table is on the smallish side, so twelve figures to an infantry unit would overcrowd it.
As the basic figure poses in this set are quite limited in what they could do (so there is a fixed amount of pike or shot-armed bodies and matching arms) I lifted a few things from other sets, namely Bloody Miniatures spare heads and Frostgrave: Ghost Archipelago crewmen arms. Some pikemen and musketeers further have recast Magic Sculpt morions.
The main theme is a red/orange colour. To make them look more TYW than ECW I painted the sleeves in shirt colours instead of buffs. Of course I could mix the units up later if I want less uniformity.
The man with the rotella is a conversion with a Macedonian phalangite shield and a Warlord horseman's plastic right arm. The figures behind him in the pike formation have FGGA crewmen arms, and the one in the front rank two figures up has a Bloody head.
