Originally I wanted to play the Battle of Denmark Strait on this year's International Naval Wargaming Day, but as usual, I got sidetracked and finished other ships instead. Bismarck and Prinz Eugen shall wait.
Instead, I've completed a pair of corsair galiots and four island sections, so the Mediterranean it shall be. I wrote a scenario to playtest my Block Galleys rules live for the first time. I'll play the game on the coming weekend and submit the AAR on the blog.
My 1/350 standard galleys are 12 or 11cm long, these are 9cm and have a single mast. The mast, stern and forecastle are removable from the models to show damage. One is painted with pink decorations and the other in green.
Here's a bird's eye view of Saronikos and Postavtomatikos Islands in the Aegean. The islands are made from thick corrugated cardboard I lifted from Lidl (originally fruit containers), and paper mache. The rest is some brown, sand and grey coloured paint, sand and pebbles, so besides the PVA and tissue paper they are virtually cost free. The larger one can be disassembled to three major sections. These "islands" of course would work for other genres as hills or whatnot.

Great looking ships and excellent looking Islands!
