1/1000 Scale Trashy Fleets

A little while ago I started building a large scale model of the ironclad HMS Inflexible, which sits on the shelf with the hull mostly complete. While painting the Kongo, I looked around and realized my balsa stock is running low and there isn't much chance of it being replaced - there is a severe lack of balsa wood in any hobby store, and I don't really have the tools to use any sort of wood harder than pine.

I did not really care much about the transitional period of naval development, from the ACW to the steel pre-dreadnoughts before, but recently I began to find it really interesting. There is a co-existence of all kinds of interesting vessels to delve into here. I built models from paper before, so I thought I could do it again, christening this as the Trashy Fleets Project. I also have a campaign system for developing navies ready to use, a little more fuel to do things. While paper is kind of hard to work with in smaller scales, for space efficieny 1/1000 scale is good enough, models would have plenty of detail but would not be extremely difficult to create.

I hope I will be able to publish some prototypes in the near future.
