Renaissance stuff

I do not rush things this summer, looking for a job, staying home. Weather reaching some hellish degrees. Anyway, a little batch of figures I completed - first, five Turks from the Zvezda set - these were painted long ago, I just added a wash and highlights to better fit my newer works.

Padre Vincenzo, to complete Count Glutemarknog's mercenary band - a figure from the Imex Pilgrims set, a bandolier and blunderbuss added.

The bear's an old one too, he's got a wash, a drybrush and a base from bark. The chest is balsa and green stuff, the goat and turkey are from the pilgrims set again.

The first lot of my birthday present, twelve riders from the Mars remake of the Revell TYW cavalry set. I have fielded all my renaissance European figures in a large battle using Maurice, I will post the AAR later in the week. These twelve brought up my cavalry force to 38, so plenty of cavalry for two armies.

  2. They look great:), have you tried Escalade? It's a nice tyw company level skirmish, your collection would be a great match for it.

    1. Thank you - I'll look it up. One of my previous posts is about Flashing Steel, I really liked that one. I played a larger battle with Maurice and I'll try Blücher soon. These are not for the period, but great rule sets on their own right and with a little bit of tinkering they work well.

  3. Hi, Andrew: Nice job on the pieces. The bear and chest caused me to take a "double look". Great modeler's vision to see the bear based on a piece of bark. A stroke of red hot imagination if you ask me.

    1. Thank you! The case of the bear is more of the 'what I had on hand' type of deal. And now I've got gold paint so I think I'm going to repaint the ironings on the chest.
