JWI Green Royal Guard

You can inspect the previous paint job here. This was done in enamels, while not particularly bad I felt the need to improve as these figures deserve the effort.

Have painted all 19 of them but here are only half a dozen representing the whole lot.

Instead of Umber shade I used a Vallejo black wash this time, have to work on the dilution (a lot more thinned version was applied to the Samurai I'm currently painting).

I have a weak spot in my heart for heavy cavalry, these are to be the elitest of the elites, the King of Jackewline's personal guard cavalry.

  1. Well done. Love the look of cavalry on the table. Hate to paint them.

    1. Thank you - lately I'm quite fine with painting cavalry, it hasn't been like that for long.

  2. Very nice. The details really "pop!"

  3. These do look better. The figures are crisper and the horses are much, much better. I've never tried enamels before and some people use oils on their horses and they turn out fabulous. I'm not very adventurous!

    1. Thank you - at the moment I'm fine with acrylics, mainly because using black undercoat so the oil wipe mode would not work.

  4. Very nice. Good looking unit of cavalry I bet they look great all together charging across the field of battle!
