Plastic Soldier Company Pz.Kpfw. VI 'Tiger I's

Thes, upon my call to help me out growing my 15mm WW2 arsenal, were generously sent by Mr Andrew Saunders from Loki's Great Hall; I do owe him one for this. Supposed to be the early version Tigers but I was sort of deliberate with some details.

With the Zvezda kits I have obviously became too comfortable. Fitting pegs and holes everywhere, one-piece tracks and so on. Now these are only one step more difficult so assembly took a little more time but everything went OK. The tracks'n'wheels are made of 4 parts so there had to be a little sequence undercoating each part one after another but with that the hardships were over.

On to painting: a black undercoat, mixed earth brown and yellow basecoat, brown and green camo as on the kit box; then a drybrush of gunmetal on the necessary parts and medium gray on the hull. Then came a finish of quickshade and a wash with the Vallejo pigment plus extra weathering on the tracks. They look worn and war-torn and beaten by weather and that is how I imagined them. Success.

This is the company commander with victory marks on the gun. The figs looking out the hatches are a nice touch. I'm a little bit afraid I mangled the lights again - you be my judges.

Rear ends with extra weathering on the exhausts.

You can see more dust looking at them from above. The bases are 2mm x 4cm x 8cm MDF boards bought on ebay. With these the series of AFVs and WW2 stuff ends for a while. I think I will paint some JWI forces and then a little pike&shotte. A good, healthy variety.

    1. My comment was intended as a compliment upon the air of menace presented by this quartet of obviously veteran Tigers.
      Cheers,

  2. nice stuff! in reference to Ion's comment though these guys are like old men now. they can still look tough but those leather jackets are bit old school.

new predators stalk the allies now, Leopards not tigers are kings of the jungle.

    great work!

    1. Thank you. Underestimate them not; if a stolen T-34 could scare the police s***less back in 2006 (happened in Hungary), imagine what these could have done. Of course a battlefield is a different situation.

  5. Wonderful work, Andras! I love these. They look straight off the battlefield and at first, I thought this were bigger kits!

I'm reading "The Lions of Carentan." With it being about Normandy, your post is timely and appropriate!

  6. Those are a bunch of mean looking predators for sure. The camo makes them look like their namesake. Best, Dean
